Mina's vast tent city houses millions of pilgrims during Hajj, and its Jamarat — three stone pillars where pilgrims perform the symbolic stoning ritual (Ramy al-Jamarat) — are now housed within a large, multi-level pedestrian bridge built to safely manage the crowds. Pilgrims spend the nights of 8, 10, 11 and 12 Dhul Hijjah here during Hajj. Outside the season, the valley is far quieter and the permanent fireproof tents stand largely empty.
